The most interesting story about Obama and Clinton you've (maybe) never heard and certainly hasn't been discussed frequently in the media...

In 2000, Barack Obama ran against Rep. Bobby Rush in the Democratic House primary for the 1st district in Illinois. Rush was favored to win and dominated Obama in name recognition. Rush is African-American and dominated the African-American vote while Obama actually did well among whites. One of the death blows to Obama's campaign was President Bill Clinton's endorsement of Rush. Rush and Clinton were old friends and Clinton broke his policy of remaining neutral in all Democratic primaries by doing a glowing radio ad for Rush. Obama was destroyed on Election Day and returned to the State Senate only to be elected to the Senate in 2004. Had Obama defeated Rush, he might have been a freshman representative in the House in 2002 for the Iraq vote and might have been pressured to vote in favor of the war. Had he voted for the war, there's a good chance he would not have had the rationale to run in 2008 and Hillary Clinton would've cruised to victory in the presidential primary this year. To top it all off, Bobby Rush turned against his old friend and endorsed Barack Obama against Hillary Clinton.

We'll never know if Bill Clinton's broken promise 8 years ago actually cost Hillary the presidency.

"I have never seen anything like it. I have never seen a candidate treated so disrespectfully just for running."- Bill Clinton today

Given that the Obama campaign continues to acknowledge the nomination is not decided and has not called for Hillary Clinton to drop out, wouldn't it be more disrespectful for them to simply ignore her and pretend the nomination was wrapped up? They would have precedent on their side though. Some presidential candidate in the past completely ignored his opponent prior to clinching the magic number for the nomination....

From the May 11, 1992 New York Times: "Aides to Mr. Clinton say that in most of the remaining primaries he will ignore the former Governor of California, Edmund G. Brown Jr., and will try to give voters a clearer sense of his own personality and his positions on major issues, in preparation for a general election campaign against President Bush."

To top it off, Clinton threw in another lie....

"She is winning the general election today and he is not, according to all the evidence," Clinton said.

Fivethirtyeight.com has them both winning, mydd.com has them both winning, RealClearPolitics' national poll average has Obama beating McCain by more than Clinton is beating McCain. Don't let the truth override a good quote though.
